BIOL 4530. Comparative Biomechanics. 4 Hours.
Prerequisites: BIOL 1107, 1107L, BIOL 1108, 1108L or instructor permission. An investigation of the structure of aquatic, terrestrial and aerial organisms function. Integrated lectures and labs explore the limitations that the physical world places on organisms and the opportunities it provides. Topics include: X-ray, 3D, high speed, and micro imaging; biomaterial testing; bone breakage; tendon/muscle function; and biomimetic design.
