Prerequisites: SOWK 6301, and 6302 or Advanced Standing status, or permission of instruction. A survey of the historical and philosophical underpinnings of substance use and mental health requirement, both traditional and alternative. Public opinion and public policy are examined in the context of their effect on treatment approaches.
